Couple killed on ‘100-body hill’ near Pattaya

Police are hunting the driver of pickup truck involved in a fatal road accident at a notorious blackspot near Pattaya early yesterday.

A driver, Kromkrit Yimthat, 56, was killed at the wheel and his wife, Chanapha Yimthat, 50, was hurled through the windshield after their vehicle was hit from behind by a second pickup at 4am.
The impact of the collision sent their vehicle into a large concrete street lamp pole in the middle of the “100-body hill” in Chon Buri’s Sattahip district near Jomtien.
The driver of the second pickup had already fled the scene when police arrived.
The couple’s relatives said they were heading to sell used clothes at a market and they were about to get prepare to make merit to mark Kromkrit’s birthday on Saturday.
Local residents say the intersection is known as “100-body” hill due to the high number of fatal accidents there. Last month alone, eight people were killed in accidents on the hill.
Many people also came to make offerings to the spirits of those killed at the spot.
