Sunghwan Kim appointed president of Thai Samsung Electronics

Samsung on Tuesday announced the appointment of Sunghwan Kim as the president of Thai Samsung Electronics.

As president, Sunghwan Kim will steer Samsung’s Thai operations and drive its leadership in technology and innovation.
The company said in a statement that Kim “will continue to strengthen Samsung’s presence while continuing the company’s growth and development across all business units, including audiovisuals, home appliances, business solutions and mobile devices.
“Additionally, he will continue Samsung’s long-standing commitment in corporate citizenship to make social contributions and help improve the lives of employees and Thai people at large.”
Kim is a Samsung veteran who has been with the company for more than 17 years. Before moving to Thailand, he served as head of IM global sales innovation from 2015 to 2017. 
Before that he was president of Samsung Electronics Mexico from 2014 to 2015, during which he played a key role in the growth of the company’s IT businesses and contributed to the strong performance of Samsung in many countries in South America.
Kim holds a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Korea University.
“With his extensive experience in technology and innovation, he is well-positioned to begin his new leadership role in Thailand – to present cutting-edge products and services that will bring convenience and meet the ever-changing demands of consumer,” the company statement said.
