UN designates Dec 12 as ‘Universal Health Coverage Day
December 12 will be observed as International Universal Health Coverage Day in response to a proposal from the Foreign Policy and Global Health Initiative (FPGH), which is currently chaired by Thailand.
A source revealed on Thursday that the United Nations General Assembly had adopted two resolutions related to global health and foreign policy with one designating December 12 as annual “International Universal Health Coverage Day” and the other calling for a major summit to be held on the issue in 2019.
FPGH has prepared the resolutions. Thailand, Brazil, France, Indonesia, Norway, Senegal and South Africa are currently the FPGH members.
