Homeless man dies in cold wind in Suphan Buri paddy field

An unidentified homeless man was found dead in the middle of a muddy paddy field in Suphan Buri’s Muang district on Thursday morning.

Pol Captain Sumet Suksattha, deputy inspector of Muang Suphn Buri police station, said the body was found at 7.30am.
The man was wearing shorts and a blue T-shirt while a pair of sandals was found nearby.
Sumet said the man’s body showed no traces of having been injured and there was no sign of a struggle.
A forensics doctor from Chao Phraya Yommaraj Hospital said the man died six to eight hours before his body was found.
Suriyan Kerdsomnuek, 58, a local resident, told police that he and his wife came to tend a fish pond near the area on Wednesday and found the man lying on the sidewalk without a shirt.
He said he and officials from the tambon administration had given the man food.
Suriyan added that he had seen the man shivering in the cold wind in the evening so he gave the man a shirt and blanket.
Sumet said the man might have fallen into the rice field and became numb because of the cold, adding that there were no indications that he had struggled to get up.
