Five Cambodians arrested crossing barbed-wire Sa Kaew border

Sa Kaew immigration police and rangers on routine patrol arrested five Cambodians as they crossed the concrete border fence near Sa Kaew's Aranyaprathet district on Sunday morning.

None of the Cambodians – three men and two women – had travel documents and confessed to police that they had illegally entered Thailand in search of work in Bangkok and Chacherngsao.
They said they had paid Bt500 to a Cambodian broker who led them to the 2.5-metre-tall border fence with another 80-cm-tall barbed wire fence at the top. The broker fled while they were scaling the fence and the Thai authorities caught them.
The migrants were taken for interrogation at the Paramilitary Ranger Company 1201 before being sent to immigration police for detention and deportation.
In a separate incident, 24-year-old Cambodian woman Dara Loy sustained a broken right ankle as she fell to the ground while crossing the border fence into Thailand at the back of the Rong Klua Border Market at 11am.
She and her husband Kimtha Sai, 32, told officials they were attempting to enter the country illegally with the hope of finding jobs. The couple was charged with illegal entry before the woman was rushed to Aranyaprathet Hospital for treatment. They will be deported later, officials said.
