Shell customers can now by QR code

Shell has partnered with Siam Commercial Bank (SCB) to launch a digital cashless station to allow customers to by petrol using a QR code.

The Shell Company of Thailand (SCOT) today called a press conference under the theme “Making Life’s Journey Better with Cashless Stations” to announce the system, which is a first for Thailand.
The company said it wanted to underscore its commitment to provide the latest innovations to Thai consumers.
Through this partnership, the first digital cashless station is being piloted at the Shell Lert Trakarn station opposite SCB’s head office in Ratchayothin.
The companies said it would offer “a convenient experience to consumers while also supporting Thailand’s move towards a cashless society as part of government’s ‘Thailand 4.0’ initiative to drive into the future”.
The Shell Lert Trakarn station will allow motorists to pay for fuel via dynamic QR code using the “SCB Easy Cashier” machine, an all-in-one electronic data capture (EDC) device for debit cards, credit cards, QR codes and other future payment methods, including contactless payments.
Motorist can use QR code payment via the mobile banking applications of any bank. In addition to fuel, motorists can pay by QR code for oil changes, bakery items and beverages at the deli cafe and other services such as car washes.
Ornuthai Na Chiangmai, SCOT’s executive director of retail business, said: “We constantly strive to provide best-in-class products and services that exceed customer expectations.”
