Police urge teen girls to file complaints against ‘dirty old man’

Udon Thani’s police chief on Tuesday urged teenage girls in the province to come forward to file complaints against an elderly man who has been trying to buy sexual services from them.

Pol Colonel Chakkrapop Sukhontharaj said police needed those affected to file complaints so that they could start a formal investigation.
However, if none of them dared to come forward, he would consider whether any law could be used that would allow police to take action without a formal complaint, the provincial police chief added.
He made the statement after a popular Facebook page, @queentogetherisone, posted the story of a teenage girl who warned other girls in the province to be careful about approaches from an old man seeking to buy sexual services from them.
In the post, which was published on Sunday, the girl said an unidentified man had been walking around downtown Udon Thani, handing out handwritten notes to girls asking them to call him if they needed money and wanted a job.
However, when she phoned him, it turned out that he wanted to buy sexual services.
The post had received more than 62,000 reactions and was shared over 900 times and received around 400 comments as of Tuesday afternoon.
Facebook users condemned the individual, dubbing him “dirty old man”.
