Bottlenose dolphin at Phuket show gives birth
The general manager of the Phuket dolphin show has said a bottlenose dolphin named “Alice” gave birth to its first calf last Saturday.
“Our team is very excited to see this very smart mammal give birth to a baby in our place. The baby is very healthy and playful and this is a great Children’s Day celebration for all our staff,” she said.
The Dolphinarium opened in controversial circumstances three years ago amid enormous pushback from local residents and activists who said that they did not want a dolphin zoo in Phuket.
However, the facility located next to the Phuket Zoo has proven a huge tourist attraction, especially for Chinese, Korean and Eastern European tourists.
