Six arrested in four drug cases in Phuket

District officials arrested six suspects in four separate drug cases in Phuket’s Muang district early on Wednesday.

The arrests were led by Danai Jaikhaeng, assistant Muang Phuket district chief, who took officials and volunteers on an inspection of the district as part of an operation to crack down on drug trafficking.
The operation led to the seizure of 15,452 methamphetamine pills and 1.25 kiograms of crystal meth.
Danai said Siwa Manop, 35, Bussaya Pirakulpatthana, 19, and Narong Promsiri, 35, were arrested at their rented room in an apartment building in Tambon Taladyai. The authorities seized three bags, each containing 2.91kg of crystal meth, from their room.
Later on, the team arrested Tinnapat Rakru, 20, at a hotel room in Tambon Chalong. The authorities found 1.1 grams of crystal meth.
The team later arrested Ekkasit Kongsamut, 21, at a rented house in Tambon Rawai and seized nine bags, each holding 16.93 grams of crystal meth, and 536 meth pills.
The team also arrested Paowana Prateep, 22, at her house in Tambon Rawai and seized 1.05 kg of crystal meth and 15,452 meth pills.
