Under-20 patrons nabbed in raid on Pattaya pub

Police raided a pub in Pattaya City early on Sunday and found the venue allowed entry to dozens of patrons under 20 who also were served alcoholic drinks.

Following public complaints of a night entertainment place operating beyond the legal closing time and allowing underage patrons, a team of police and local administration officials led by Bang Lamung district clerk Pichet Thamhon conducted a search at 2.30am at the “Eight Bits” pub in Pattaya City, Chon Buri province.
Many customers fled the pub when they saw police arriving, but 59 patrons (35 boys and 24 girls) aged under 20 were detained.
Pub staffer Wiroj Buajum, 35, was taken to the Bang Lamung district office to hear the charges of operating a night entertainment venue without permission, selling alcohol without permission, allowing entry to people under 20 and selling alcohol to those under 20.
