Police and firefighters rushed to the scene, an accounting company office’s building on Bangkok-Nonthaburi Road, after being informed at 1am.
Firefighters took an hour to put out the blaze and retrieved the dead bodies of Natthanan Suriyaroj, 36, and her son Thitisak, 5, from a toilet on the fourth floor.
The fire, reportedly broke out at 1am on the building’s second floor before spreading to the third and fourth levels.

Investigations are on into the cause of the fire but police suspect it was caused by a short circuit.

Bang Sue district office director Kuljira Sasukhawat said the building, built in 1990, still retained a lot of heat even though the blaze had been extinguished. She said a fire engine would remain on standby to deal with any smouldering fires until forensic officers arrive for inspections on Monday.
