Banks stack up cash reserves for Chinese New Year

Kasikornbank on Wednesday announced its plan to maintain Bt48 billion in cash reserves at KBank branches and ATMs to service customers during the upcoming Chinese New Year festival, from February 13-16, 2018.

Of the total, Bt21 billion has been allocated for 1,029 KBank branches nationwide, consisting of Bt8.5 billion for Bangkok and Bt12.5 billion for the provinces.
A total of Bt27 billion is for 9,300 K-ATMs nationwide, consisting of Bt12.5 billion for Bangkok and Bt14.5 billion for provinces.
Bangkok Bank on Wednesday said it would be reserving more than Bt35 billion of cash at its 1,000-plus branches, including micro branches, and its nationwide network of 10,000 ATMs in order to meet the higher demand during the Chinese New Year festival. The bank will also top-up cash in its ATMs more frequently.
It has also prepared new banknotes for customers to use as cash gifts, as it is a Chinese custom to give money to young family members on the occasion of the New Year.
Bangkok Bank will also top-up cash in ATMs more frequently during the festival. 

CIMB THAI Bank will reserve total cash of Bt1.111 billion for the Chinese New Year, of which Bt277 million will be for its 144 combined ATM and ADM, and the remaining Bt834 million for its 79 branches.
