Soldiers, police and administrative officials destroyed two opium plantations in Tak’s Phob Phra district on Monday morning.

Troops from Mae Sot-based 14th Infantry Regiment, Border Patrol 346th Company officers and officials of Namtok Pha Charoen National Park and the forestry department destroyed the poppies, which had already been tapped.

An unnamed hunter was also apprehended in possession of the carcass of banded palm civet, a makeshift shotgun and ammunition, and charged with hunting protected wildlife.
