Cyclist fatally injured in crash with truck after Doi Inthanon riding activity

A cyclist lost control of his bike and crashed into an oncoming truck while descending Doi Inthanon in Chiang Mai province following a riding activity to promote tourism on Sunday.

The accident happened at 5pm and the cyclist, Wasawat Phakkarawut, a 30-year-old Bangkok resident, died at Jom Thong Hospital on Monday morning.
Wasawat was among 7,500 cyclists who had joined the “Doi Inthanon Biking” activity, which commenced at 6am on Sunday.
Police said that when the man was cycling back down from the mountaintop, he lost control of his bicycle on a curve at kilometre marker No 40+5 and crashed into a truck approaching in the opposite lane. 
The truck had been heading up Doi Inthanon to pick up cyclists and their bikes from the mountaintop.
