One killed, 16 injured as careening bus slams into eight trucks
The hostess on an air-conditioned Nakhon-Ratchasima-Bangkok bus was killed on Sunday night when the driver lost control and ploughed into eight other vehicles.
Police said Maneerat Sisai, 26, died at the scene and 16 other people were injured.
Pol Lt Col Thanawat Prispornphan of Sungnone district police said the accident occurred at 9.30pm in Ban Buyai village, Tambon Sungnone.
Bus driver Panom Sudlapha sustained a severe head injury and was taken to Maharaj Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital, where he told police he’d lost control on the rain-slick road.
The bus crossed the road median into oncoming traffic, striking a 10-wheel truck, five six-wheel trucks and a pickup.
The other 15 people injured were mostly passengers on the bus.
