Yi Ngor superintendent Pol Colonel Dulyaman Yaena led forensic officials and a bomb squad to gather detailed evidence at the scene at 9am on Thursday.
Police learned that Akbar had left his house at night via the back door for an errand when he was fired upon twice.
As Akbar ran towards the front of his house, the assailant gave chase and fired another three shots, causing Akbar to fall down.
Police suspect that the shooting was motivated by a personal conflict, but have not yet ruled out the ongoing unrest in the province.
Police have summoned his family members for questioning in search of the shooter, and will summon Akbar when he has sufficiently recovered.
