Summer storms forecast to hit today
The Meteorological Department is advising residents of northeastern provinces to brace themselves for thunderstorms that are forecast to hit the area on Tuesday.
In its fifth warning related to the thunderstorms issued at 5am Tuesday, the department said high pressure over upper Vietnam is expected to reach the Northeast of on Thailand on Tuesday.
It will collide with hot air over upper Thailand, and lead to summer storms over the northern provinces from Tuesday to Friday, the warning said. Some areas will experience hailstorms.
The areas affected by the storms include:
March 6 to 7:
Northeast: Loei, Nongbua Lamphu, Nong Khai, Udon Thani, Bueng Kan, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Mukdahan, Khon Kaen, Chaiyaphum, Nakhon Ratchasima, Maha Sarakham, Kalasin, Roi Et, Yasothon, Amnart Charoen, Buriram, Surin, Si Sa Ket and Ubon Ratchathani.
East: Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri, Sa Kaeo, Chachoengsao, Chon Buri, Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat.
Central: Nakhon Sawan, Lop Buri, Saraburi, Uthai, Chai Nat, Sing Buri, Ang Thong and Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya including Bangkok and its vicinity.
March 8 to 9:
Northeast: Loei, Nongbua Lamphu, Khon Kaen, Chaiyaphum, Nakhon Ratchasima, Buriram, Surin, Si Sa Ket and Ubon Ratchathani.
North: Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phayao, Phrae, Nan, Lamphun, Lampang, Tak, Sukhothai, Uttaradit, Phitsanulok, Kamphaengphet, Phichit and Phetchabun.
Central: Nakhon Sawan, Lop Buri, Saraburi, Uthai, Chai Nat, Sing Buri, Ang Thong, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Suphang Buri, Kanchanaburi and Ratchaburi including Bangkok and its vicinity.
East: Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri, Sa Kaeo, Chachoengsao, Chon Buri, Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat.
South: Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon and Surat Thani.
