A rubber tapper was killed by a poisonous snake while he was sleeping in a house at a rubber plantation in Nakhon Si Thammarat’s Thung Song district on Monday night.

Police were alerted of the death of Phansa Thongradab, 52, on Tuesday morning.

His body was found under a mosquito net in the house. A doctor who inspected the body believed he died more than two hours before he was found, and four tiny holes from snakebites were detected on his left ankle.

Rescuers searched the house and found the snake under a kitchen cupboard. It was captured and released into the wild.
