Five fire engines and firefighters took about two hours to control the fire along Bueng Kan-Nong Khai Road in Tambon Wisit.

Firefighters were called to control the blaze amid fears that it could spread to nearby palm and rubber plantations.

Officials said the fire might have started due to hot conditions and the early drought that has hit the province.

A forest fire raged through 100 rai (16 hectares) of a grass field in Bueng Kan's Muang district on Thursday morning.
