Two arrested as Bt223m in ‘ice’ seized in Songkhla pickup
Narcotics Suppression Division (NSD) officers have arrested two suspects and seized 447 kilograms of “ice” (crystal methamphetamine) worth Bt223 million in street value in Songkhla's Hat Yai district as they probed an operation with tentacles to Malaysia.
NSD fourth command’s third superintendent, Pol Colonel Somkiat Chakchoom, led officers to arrest suspects Sorpi-i Jirawan and Arun Chucheun in Tambon Khlong U-Tapao. They seized drugs hidden in sacks in their pickup truck’s cargo bed and in a secret compartment in the passenger cab.
Officers claimed the “ice” was being transported from the Northeast to the South and would later be taken to Malaysia. Police continue to probe the case in search of more accomplices.
