A chartered van taking Myanmar workers from Bangkok to Chiang Rai grazed a trailer truck in Sing Buri province early on Saturday, causing a fire that killed three people and left 10 others injured.

Two Myanmar women and a Myanmar man were trapped in the front seats and charred beyond recognition. Nine others from Myanmar and the van driver, Ronnakorn Tonrub, were injured.
Eight of the injured were rushed to Sing Buri Hospital and two were taken to Promburi Hospital.
The trailer-truck driver, Suwanart Chansong, said he was about to change lanes to make a U-turn when the speeding van hit the right side of the trailer.

The van driver claimed the truck had suddenly changed lanes as a result he was unable to stop in time so he swerved to the right and his van’s left side hit the trailer, causing the passenger door to be thrown open and the Myanmar migrants, who were at sleep, to be flung on the road from the impact.
Ronnakorn said the three who were killed were trapped in the front seat as the van caught fire so he could not help them in time.
He said he was taking the Myanmar migrants from Bangkok to Chiang Rai to renew their visa and some wanted to return home after working in Bangkok.
