Monkrun shelter nurses buffalo hurt in road accident

Monkrun shelter nurses buffalo hurt in road accident

A monkrun shelter for animals has come to the aid of a female buffalo that suffered a miscarriage and injuries from a recent road accident.

The heavilypregnant buffalo ran out of its stable and was hit by a car in Nakhon Ratchasima’s Non Thai district at about 9pm on Friday.
Rescue workers and vet volunteers rushed to the accident scene to provide help.
However, it was not easy to find an organisation able to take on the injured animal.
The buffalo had to wait overnight, with rescue workers and volunteer standing by it, until Phra Ajarn Woen Rattanayano from Kalasin province arrived at 5pm on Saturday.
The monk cleaned the wound of the buffalo and spliced one of its legs before having it loaded into a vehicle.
Phra Ajarn Woen Rattanayano, who has run a shelter for animals, has named the buffalo “Karaked” apparently after the heroine of popular TV series “Buppesannivas”.
The shelter has veterinarians to treat the animals.
Many people have already donated money for Karaked’s treatment.
