Police said the man allegedly poured gasoline on, and lit fire to, 10 vehicles from nine owners parking on roads at eight spots in the district&rsquo;s Tambon Nong Kasa and Tambon Nong Tamlueng.

Wasit Nanthiwatwipah, 29, a resident of Tambon Mappong in the district, was seen riding his motorcycle near the vehicle locations prior to them being set on fire, police alleged.

Phanthong police chief Pol Colonel Passakorn Thunsup said the man appeared to have mental challenges. He was unable to communicate clearly and claimed to be a detective trying to bust a pyramid fund scheme.

A man believed to have mental health issues has been arrested for allegedly setting fire to 10 vehicles in Chon Buri’s Phanthong district early on Monday.
