A combined security team has arrested two Laotian drug suspects allegedly carrying 2,389 yaba pills in an early morning sting operation in the northeast border province of Bung Kan’s Pak Khat district on Sunday.

Wilaisak Jantharangsi and Lidtided Xayawong, both 27, and residents of Thaphabath district of Bolikhamxai province in Laos, were nabbed at the Suthep pier on the Mekong River at 1.30am as they allegedly delivered the drugs to an undercover policeman.

The officer had promised to buy the drugs for Bt120,000 – about Bt14,000 of which had been wired to a higher-level dealer as an advance payment.
The two men reportedly confessed to police that they were paid Bt10,000 by a man identified only as “Ya” to deliver the drugs to a customer at the pier.
Police laid initial charges against the two men for jointly bringing methamphetamine into Thailand without permission, conspiring to traffic drugs, having possession of illegal drugs, and illegally entering the Kingdom.
The men’s longtail boat and two cell phones were also impounded.
