Three killed as car plunges into canal in Surat Thani

Three men were killed and another injured after their car plunged off a bridge and into a canal in Surat Thani’s Ban Nasan district as they were headed home from a wedding ceremony early on Monday.

Police were alerted to the accident at 5.30am at the Klong Preng Bridge in Moo 2 village in Tambon Khuansri. Officers found backseat passenger Natthakit Jitkua, 28, sitting on the canal’s bank, injured. Natthakit and fellow backseat passenger, Wutthi Daengsaeng, 59, crawled out of the car after it fell front-down into the canal. Wutthi was severely injured and died at the Ban Nasan Hospital.
Police also found two bodies in the front seats. They were identified as Charoon Khiewkalae, 43, and Chalee Daengsaeng, 43.
The solve survivor told police the group were returning home in Phetchaburi after attending a wedding in Songkhla.
