Chinese tourist drowns off Patong Beach

Patong police received a report about the drowning on Wednesday and rushed to the scene. The man, identified as Teng Yiding, drowned near a hotel on Taweewong Road in Patong.
His son, Yang Yongpeng, told police that they were a family of five who had arrived in Phuket on April 3. They stayed at a hotel in the area.
At about 11am, his father went into the water alone as the rest of the family was sitting on the beach. About 10 minutes later, they could not find him so they called for help.
His body was recovered from the waters and sent to Patong Hospital but he died after failed attempts to revive him.
