Samui jet ski operators scoop Russian tourist from surf

Samui jet-ski operators said they have pulled up to six swimmers out of the surf in the last few days.

A Russian tourist is among those rescued. The female tourist was swimming at Chaweng Beach on Koh Samui when she appeared to get caught in a rip tide and dragged out to sea, according to witnesses.
Jet Ski operators at the beach heard the woman’s screams and noticed that she was caught in a “washing machine” of colliding surf and current and was struggling.
They headed out to intercept the exhausted and distressed tourist and plucked her out of the surf. They brought her safely back to the shore where she recovered with help from friends.
The tourist, later identified as Alla Khanee, chose not to go to hospital.
The beach is signed with warnings and red flags but some tourists are continuing to ignore them. Samui jet-ski operators said they have pulled up to six swimmers out of the surf in the last few days.
“We get nothing for doing this. We do it out of the kindness of our hearts because every life has value,” said one of the jet-ski operators.
