The authorities have seized 2,991 vehicles from drunk drivers in their first three days of monitoring road accidents over the Songkran holidays, an Army spokeswoman said on Saturday.

Colonel Sirichan Ngathong, deputy spokeswoman of the Army, said the authorities stopped 113,960 motorists and motorcyclists from April 11 to 13 in an effort to enforce drunk-driving laws. They seized 2,991 vehicles.
She said the vehicles would be returned to the owners after the seven-day accident monitoring period.
