Hat Yai landlord arrested over teen’s horrific rape claim

POLICE on Friday arrested the owner of an apartment building following an allegation that he raped a teenage tenant.

The man, named by police as Krissada Yanwisesphakdee, 46, has denied any wrongdoing. He is accused of attacking an 18-year-old student with a stun gun and raping her.

The alleged assault, which took place in the girl’s rented room on April 11, had led to Songkhla provincial court issuing the warrant earlier yesterday.
Hat Yai police superintendent Pol Colonel Kittichai Sangthaworn announced at that stage that Krissada was being sought over allegations of assault and rape.

Police had told the victim’s family on Thursday that the man had been summonsed and had promised to speak to investigators.
The teenager, from Satun province, had rented the dormitory room with a friend so they could take lessons with a tutor during the school holidays to prepare for university entrance exams. The girl was alone at 10am on the day in question when the dorm owner visited her room, ostensibly to fix the toilet’s showerhead, and asked her to help him unscrew it.

The man allegedly attacked the girl with a stun gun, rendering her to defenceless, then carried her to her bed, where he raped her.
The girl then called her parents and the family filed a complaint at Hat Yai police station.
On Thursday afternoon, the girl and her parents gave police more information and sought publicity to bring her attacker to justice.
The girl’s father asked for the man to be held accountable as speedily as possible, saying his family had been severely affected by the incident, while his daughter had been traumatised and needed help from a psychologist.
The Nation visited the dormitory in question yesterday and found that it was closed.
A phone inquiry to the dormitory owner resulted in the briefest of conversations.
The man said he had told police his side of the story and hung up.
