Corn thieves on prowl in Lampang

A woman farmer on Sunday night complained to police that most of the corn was stolen from her plantation in Lampang’s Chae Hom district.

Thongkham Moongtrong, 51, alerted the Chae Hom police station at 7am that thieves had stolen corn from two rai (0.32 hectares) of her plantation in Ban Hua Thung village in Tambon Wichet Nakhon on Thursday night.
Thongkham said the majority of the corn had been stolen, leaving her just 400 kilograms of the grain. The missing corn could have fetched her Bt13.50/kg, she said.
Lampang police chief Pol Maj-General Niyom Duangsi ordered officers to speed up the investigation, as corn had been stolen from several other farmers.
