Ancient tree wrecks ancient house in Samut Songkram storm

A large tree more than a century old fell on an equally old wooden house in Samut Songkram during a thunderstorm late Thursday night, flattening half the building.

No one was injured. The main damage was to an unoccupied bedroom.
Opas Sukornsoranee, 90, owner of the single-storey raised wooden house in Amphawa district, was home with her daughter, Papassara Sukornsoranee, 59, when the sabah salwood tree came crashing down.
Papassara said half the house was flattened, but fortunately her brother, who used the bedroom that was destroyed, was not home at the time.
