Police hunt gold shop thief
A thief has broken into the Tanet Hok Gold Shop on Hatchananiwet Road in downtown Phuket by breaking through the ceiling.
Phuket City Police this morning found that the shop had been ransacked and the ceiling damaged. Some gold items and a gun were stolen. The items had a value around Bt100,000.
CCTV footage showed that a male aged around 30 breaking in at about 2am. The suspect has a tattoo on his right arm and was wearing a mask.
He was inside the shop for about 30 minutes before fleeing the scene.
Police also found that the thief tried to break in from the back of the gold shop. The thief left two pairs of pliers inside the shop. Police believed that the thief failed to break in before.
The owner of the gold shop, Iirasak Tanettanasombat, reportedly told police: “My wife and I discovered that the shop had been broken into when we arrived to open this morning. At that time there is no one in the shop.”
