Authorities retrieve sack of meth pills as suspects flee cemetery on motorcycle

Thai authorities retrieved 2,000 methamphetamine pills from a sack thrown to the roadside as two suspects fled the scene on a motorcycle, in Nong Khai’s Phon Phisai district early on Friday morning.

Acting on a tip-off about a riverside drug delivery, officers of the Royal Thai Navy’s Mekhong Riverine Unit joined with police and soldiers to stake out Ban Pak Suay cemetery, said the unit head, Major Karan Minwong. They spotted a suspicious motorcycle without a licence plate at 7.30am.

The pillion rider dismounted and picked up a sack. As officers presented themselves and approached the pair, the motorcyclists sped away towards Phon Phisai city. The pillion rider threw a white plastic package to the roadside as officers gave chase.
The two suspects escaped. Officers later found the thrown package contained 1,990 meth pills and forwarded it for further investigation to Phon Phisai police, Karan added.
