Three Chinese men arrested over burglary in Chiang Mai

Chiang Mai police have arrested three Chinese men after they allegedly broke into a house in the northern province to steal.

Pol Colonel Piyaphan Phattarapongsin, deputy chief of Chiang Mai police, said Wei Yi, 33, Wei Shanyao, 30 and Wei Quanfa, 23, were arrested shortly after they broke into a house in the Narasiri housing estate on Friday night.
Piyaphan said police had been monitoring the group as they were suspected of stealing from many houses in Chiang Mai throughout March and April. Police were thus alerted when Wei Yi entered the country at the Chiang Mai Airport at 6.52pm on May 1.
Learning that Wei Yi had rented a car, police monitored him as he drove to the housing estate with the two suspects at 8.30pm.
Two suspects were seen climbing over a fence and into the car driven by Wei Yi. A team of police followed the car as it left the area. Meanwhile, another team waited until they were informed by the security officers at the housing estate that a house had been broken into.
The second team then alerted the first team following the car to make the arrest. The car was stopped at the San Pa Kha intersection in Tambon Tonpao in San Kamphaeng district.
Police found several stolen items in the auto.
Wei Yi and Wei Jawei admitted to having stolen from a house in Tambon Pa Daed in Muang district on April 13 after learning their images had been captured by security cameras.
