Panida blows fresh whistle over Magic Skin, demands compensation

Victims of the scandal engulfing Magic Skin have urged Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha to seize assets of the tainted cosmetics brand’s owner.

Panida Yospanya, the 22-year-old student who recently exposed graft in the national fund for the destitute, was a sales agent for Magic Skin and says she is among the victims.
“We hope we will be compensated,” Panida said as she led 50 other sales agents to hand a petition to Prayut via the government’s complaints centre.
The popular Magic Skin products are under a cloud over reports that the brand manufactured substandard cosmetics and boosted their profile by hiring celebrities to endorse them.
“We have stocked Magic Skin items. But now we won’t be able to sell them in the face of the scandal,” Panida said. As well as paying for the now tainted stock, distributors were required to fork out fees to join Magic Skin’s sales network.
Magic Skin is refusing to refund distributors who want to return the products, Panida added.
“The firm has insisted that we exchange the products instead. But that’s unacceptable.”
She is now demanding that brand assets be seized to pay for compensation to her and other victims.
She also asked the government to take swift action against the firm and all those involved in the scandal.
