A speeding driver was detained late Wednesday night after hitting and killing the security guard of a condominium in Chon Buri’s Muang district.

Police said the impact of the crash hurled the body of Prateep Sa-ingrum, 54, about 15 metres, showing that the car was being driven at very high speed.
The accident happened at 10.30pm on the Sukhumvit Road in front of the soi leading to Ek Condominium. Police said the guard was crossing the road to buy food.
The driver, Surasak Wongthondee, 30, was taken to the Muang Chon Buri police station to face a charge of reckless driving causing death. He claimed the victim suddenly cut in front of his car and that he was unable to stop in time.
