Udon Thani woman appeals for neighbouring child

An Udon Thani woman said on Friday that public help would be welcome to help send a granddaughter of her neighbour to school.

Udom Yangsuay, 49, told reporters that she has been taking care of Passaporn Ngamdee, eight, a second grader, since she was three years old after her grandma died.
Udom said Passaporn's mother was jailed since she was born and her grandma was taking care of her until she died five years ago.
Udom said she has to take care of her two grandsons as well and she lives on a meagre income from clothes fixing at Bt20 a piece.
She would welcome bicycles for the three children to go to school, which is about 1.5km away, she added.
Udom said the Udon Thani social development office informed her that the office is in the process of seeking a monthly allowance for the girl for Bt2,000 and the girl's school provided uniforms and textbooks for her.
But public help would also be welcome to ensure that she could complete her studies, Udom added.
