A husband and wife were found shot dead on Tuesday night inside their remote house on a mountain in Surat Thani’s Phanom district.

Residents of Moo 3 in Tambon Plu Thuan alerted police after discovering the double murder while gathering foodstuffs on Mount Khao Song Praek.

With no road to the hillside rubber plantation, rescuers had to trek 10 kilometres to retrieve the bodies.

Somporn Ketkaw, 47, and his wife Sirintha Chuabokha, 28, had bullet wounds to the head. Two spent 9mm pistol shells and a shotgun shell were found.

A doctor estimated that the couple had been dead for about three days.
