Durian aficionados can follow their noses to Ranong

Durian aficionados can follow their noses to Ranong

There’s “no such thing as free lunch”, but durian farmers will be giving away 2,500 kilograms of the fruit late next month.

Ranong Governor Chatupoj Piyumputara announced on Tuesday that his administration, the administrative organisation of Tambon Chor Por Ror and durian orchard owners would stage their third annual durian-eating festival on July 29, where it’s free to nibble and free to gorge.
Two varieties of durian – monthong and kan yao – will be available at the sports stadium in Ban Rangtaen, Kra Buri district.
Chatupoj said the festival seeks to promote the delicious durian in the tambon, which is home to most of the province’s 6,000 rai of durian orchards.
