Injured green turtle rescued from Chanthaburi beach

Injured green turtle rescued from Chanthaburi beach

An injured green turtle was rescued from a beach in Chanthaburi’s Laem Sing district late Sunday night.

Charn Pongkram, 54, a rescue worker at the Chanthaburi Rescue Foundation, said a local fisherman spotted the turtle on the Laem Sing Beach and called the foundation.
Charn said the turtle was very exhausted and so he took the turtle home and contacted the Marine and Coastal Resources Research and Development Centre for the eastern coast to collect it from his home to be nurtured at the centre.
Charn said the turtle is a female of about 50 kilograms in weight. It is about 63 centimetres long and 53cm wide and is believed to be five years old.
Its shell appeared to have been cut and cracked by a boat propeller.
