Phetchabun man arrested for serow poaching

A Phetchabun man was arrested on Wednesday morning for allegedly poaching a pregnant serow in a wildlife sanctuary in Phetchabun's Wang Pong district.

Officials of the Wang Pong Wildlife Sanctuary were informed that two men entered the sanctuary with guns on Tuesday evening so they patrolled a main road in Moo 6 village in Tambon Subperb to look for the pair.
They later spotted two men riding two motorcycles out of the forest on Wednesday morning.
But the two reportedly left their bikes and bags and ran back into the forest. One of them was arrested and identified as Boonchan Saengnoi, 41, of Moo 6.
Officers said they found cut parts of a serow, including its stillborn baby. The parts together weighed about 52kg. Two rifles were also seized.
Boonchan claimed that his friend, Koh, who was still at large, shot the serow first and he finished it off with another shot.
