Colombian arrested in Khon Kaen for allegedly breaking into Prawit’s house

A Colombian man was arrested on Saturday morning for having allegedly broken into several luxury houses, including a residence of Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan in 2016.

Police said Robert Alexander William, 46, was arrested along with his Thai girlfriend at the Ban Kerng intersection in Khon Kaen’s Ban Phai district while travelling in an air-conditioned bus from Bangkok.
Pol Maj-General Thanasak Ritdejpaiboon, deputy commissioner of the Provincial Police Bureau 4, said the suspect was arrested under a warrant issued by the Criminal Court on April 26 2016.
Thanasak said police had been monitoring a gang of foreign criminals following reports that they broke into houses in several areas of Bangkok, and nearby provinces and Pattaya.
Thanasak said the Colombian gang in April 2016 broke into several official residences of senior government officials, as well as Prawit’s house.
Thanasak said William admitted that he and three other Colombians had broken into several houses during the long Songkran holidays in 2016 and made off with valuables worth over Bt2 million.
He will later be handed over to the Don Muang police station in Bangkok, said Thanasak.
