Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha on Tuesday honoured eight good Samaritans for heroically helping a family trapped in a burning car following a road accident.

At Government House, General Prayut presented a plaque of honour to each of the eight heroes, seven men and one woman: Chakraphan Chakkaew, Watcharin Luenpen, Amornthep Meemak, Bowornpong Phrombutr, Prasit Saraban, Udomdej Prasertchaichokdee, Vijit Suebsai and Jarachya Khobking.
On June 12, the good Samaritans helped pull a family of four out of a burning car that had been involved in an accident on Friendship Highway in Nakhon Ratchasima.

All of the car’s occupants, including two children, were saved although one adult broke her leg and another suffered from slight burns.
The car’s driver reportedly was drunk and speeding to get his ill grandchild to hospital.

“I follow the news. All of you intended to help others although you knew it was dangerous. Luckily, everything turned out fine. It is rare to see cooperation like this. It shows there are people who are ready to help others – whether in cases of accident or help needed by the elderly or disabled,” the PM said.
“Everyone has to help one another. And our society will be better,” he added.
