Grab Taxi driver arrested for stealing from Cambodian passenger

Police arrested a Grab Taxi driver in Bangkok early Thursday for refusing to return a notebook computer and cash left in his car by a Cambodian passenger.

Police arrested Sutham Traisuwansiri, 37, after instructing him to report to the Bang Khen police station at 1am.
Sutham initially denied the charge but police later found the notebook computer and the handbag of the passenger, Chanso Thiron (not the official spelling), 30, at his rented room in Bangkok's Bang Khen district.
Police searched for Sutham after the Cambodian passenger alerted the Grab office in Thailand, which in turn sought help from police.
The Cambodian woman said she called a Grab Taxi to drive her from Rajabhat Phra Nakhon University to the Royal B Condominium in Bang Khen and accidentally left her notebook computer and a handbag containing US$323 in cash in the vehicle.
The Grab office contacted the driver but he turned off his mobile phone so the office sought help from police.
Sutham said he has driven a Grab taxi for just a month. He added that he had already exchanged the dollars into baht and had used the money to pay a car installment.
