Mudslide-hit village in Nan province evacuated

The chief of the Bo Kluea district in Nan province on Saturday ordered the evacuation of 33 remaining families from a valley village after a mudslide from a mountain buried four houses, killing at least seven people.

One person was still missing.
At 3pm, Preecha Somchai, the chief of Bo Kluea district, ordered the evacuation of the entire village because the mountains surrounding it have been lashed by heavy rains for several days, raising fears of more mudslides.
More than 100 residents of the 33 remaining houses were evacuated to live at Ban Sawa Nua School in Tanbon Dong Phaya, which is five kilometres away.
