Rain-soaked Trang on alert for floods, landslides

Trang Governor Siripat Patkul on Tuesday warned residents in four districts to brace for possible flash floods and landslides triggered by heavy rain.

Huay Yot, Palian, Na Yong and Yan Ta Khao are on alert for danger.
Siripat also instructed local administrations to have manpower, tools and vehicles ready to respond to emergencies after rainfall topped 80 millimetres in 24 hours.
The weather bureau has said heavy downpours will continue and the Department of Mineral Resources has a network volunteers on watch for landslides and flooding.
Trang’s disaster prevention office said the southern province had been pelted with rain for two or three days.
Floodwater up to 70 centimetres deep blocked two large sections of Phetchkasem Highway on Sunday and affected at least 50 homes in Muang district.
