Police and the public in Nakhon Ratchasima have joined hands to hunt for a limping cyclist who sped off with a wallet that had dropped from a university student’s trouser pocket on Monday.

The wallet contained the student’s tuition and boarding fees, as well as his ID and other cards.
Footage from a security camera at Thanon Chira Junction railway station in Mueang district showed that the man noticed that the wallet had been dropped by the student, pedalled his bike to the spot, picked it up and sped off although the student was still walking in front of him.

The incident happened at 9.30am after Wallop Jongmuenwai, 56, had driven his son in a pickup to the railway station so that he could travel to Ubon Ratchathani University.
The clip showed that the wallet had fallen to the ground when the student got out of the passenger door and walked to the back of the truck to get his backpack.
Wallop said his son had later stopped for lunch and learned when he had to pay the bill that he had lost his wallet.
The wallet contained Bt30,000 for the boy’s tuition fee and rental fee for the university’s boarding house, as well as all of his son’s important identification cards and an ATM card.
Wallop sought permission to see footage from the security camera at the railway station in order to file a complaint with police.
Police then used the clip to check with taxi motorcyclists at the railway station, but they said they did not know the man in the footage.

Daoroi Julkrathok, 56, a taxi motorcyclist, said he later learned from a nearby shop that the man had been seen walking with a limp.
He made copies of a still from the clip and distributed it among fellow taxi motorcyclists and vendors at the market near the railway station so that they could help search for the suspect, as he thought it was wrong to take off with other people’s assets.
