Dealers’ wives held after sting: police

The arrest of Prathoom Sirikwan, 34, and Panaporn Ketsuwan, 32, was announced at a press conference at the Kamphaeng Phet police head office jointly by provincial governor Thatchai Sisuwan and Kamphaeng Phet chief Pol Maj Gen Chalermpol Jintarat.
The two were arrested in a sting operation after they delivered drugs in two shipments to an undercover officer, the governor said.
Police said they seized 48,000 methamphetamine pills and 280 grams of ice from the two suspects.
The police chief said officers planned a sting operation after they learned that some inmates had been selling drugs from inside the prison by using their networks outside.
Chalermpol said Prathoom is the wife of Jirasak Sirikwan and Panaporn is married to Seksan Ketsuwan. The men were jailed for selling meth.
The police chief said the two inmates had buried drugs so they decided to have their wives sell the narcotics.
Chalermpol said the undercover officer got close to the two wives and won their trust so he managed to have them deliver the drugs to him before he would pay them.
The two wives allegedly left 4,000 meth pills for the officer to pick up at an electricity pole in Moo 4 village in Tambon Wang Thong in Muang district on July 31.
They reportedly delivered the rest of the drugs to the agent at 2am on Wednesday on a roadside in Moo 1 village in Tambon Nong Khla in Sai Ngam district.
The two women were later arrested at a resort in Muang district.
