The Phuket Marine Office has announced a warning for boats heading out onto the Andaman Sea from today until August 15.

“Small boats less than 12 metres should not leave from port,” said

the announcement, issued yesterday (August 8). Four-metre waves were reported in the Andaman Sea.

Boats that are leaving from Phuket to Koh Phi Phi should be very careful when travelling. Boats less than 12 metres long should not leave port.

Boats to Koh Maithon, Koh Hei, Koh Lon, Koh Racha Noi and Koh Racha Yai and boats which are less than 12 metres long should not leave port.

The Marine Office said boat operators must follow what the officers at each port say.

The advice is clearly not to go to sea without putting a blanket ban on boats leaving port.
