Vajiralongkorn Dam in Kanchanburi still dumping water
The Vajiralongkorn Dam in Kanchanaburi continued to release water at the hastened speed of 53 million cubic metres per day for the third day on Saturday, the dam’s director said.
Waiwit Saengphanit said the dam is at 91 per cent of capacity and is holding 8,109 million cubic metres of water as of 7am on Saturday.
The committee in charge of managing the dam’s water level decided on Thursday to release at the hastened speed until Monday. They want to free space in the reservoir for additional rainwater expected for the end of August and through September, said Waiwit.
He said the dam has room for another 751 more million cubic metres of water.
